On this page you can read about my work experience and my story.
It has not always been an easy road but I feel immensely grateful and privileged to have been able to study, work and be inspired by so many amazing mentors, teachers, artists and colleagues. It is my greatest passion now to be able to meet people myself and to investigate with them what their story is, and also to share with them what I have learned and am still learning. Together we continue to learn and research with and from each other. I also hope to meet you in one or more of the three departments of my practice.
About Marion
Early years
Born and raised in the Netherlands, where she obtained her bachelor's degree in Dance and Theater in 1995, Marjon lived and worked in New York City from 1992 to 2000 as a professional dancer, certified Simonson Jazzdans Docent (since 1996), choreographer, producer and certified pilates instructor (since 1997). In NYC she worked closely with Lynn Simonson, Romana Kryzanowska and Bob Liekens, among others.

Memento Dance Company
Marjon founded Memento Dance Company in 1996 in New York City. After New York City, she moved to Paris to continue her work there. Back in the Netherlands in 2003, she restarted Memento Dance Company and traveled all over Europe and North America.

Memento Bodyworks
In 2004 Marjon opened her own studio in the Netherlands: Memento Bodyworks, studio for Pilates - Body Therapy & Performing Arts. In this studio she started the Pilates teacher training to guide Pilates Instructors in their experience and work.

Cirque du Soleil
In April 2007, Marjon was asked to join Cirque du Soleil as Artistic Director and toured three of Cirque du Soleil's biggest touring shows for a decade; DELIRIUM, OVO and QUIDAM.

Back to the roots
In December 2016 Marjon left Cirque du Soleil and returned to the Netherlands to continue her work in theatre, art sports, dance & to continue the pilates method and beyond. In 2018, Marjon restarted her professional practice and has been working full-time from the Netherlands since then.

In the present
In 2016, Marjon discovered the work of biodynamic and integrative psychotherapy in Ireland. In January 2019, Marjon fully embraced this work and started her 4-year training at the Netherlands Institute for Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy in Amsterdam (NIB) which she completed in March 2023.
​In 2018, Marjon restarted her company and slowly rebuilt her practice.
As of 2023Memento Bodyworks officially again the company name of Marjon's activities in which all 3 parts: Pilates Studio, Body Therapy, Performing Arts, again fall under 1 roof.
