Universal Reformer & Mat | Fundamentals & Basic (Level I ) – Foundations of the Classical Pilates Method

At Memento Bodyworks, Pilates education is not simply about memorising exercises — it’s about developing an eye for movement, understanding the body through practice, and learning to teach in a way that feels grounded, clear, and authentic.

The Pilates Method Instructor Course  on the Universal Reformer & Mat | Basic (Level I) offers a thoughtful and comprehensive introduction to the Pilates method Universal Reformer & Mat work.

We begin with the principles of the Classical method, honouring the intelligence of Joseph Pilates’ original work, and then expand into the method, allowing you to teach with relevance, adaptability, and integrity.

This training is designed for those who wish to build a meaningful foundation as a Pilates method instructor, using both the Universal Reformer & the Mat — whether you are starting fresh, transitioning from another movement field, or deepening your personal practice.

What you will develop

  • A deep understanding of the beginner to intermediate Pilates method on the universal Reformer & on the Mat — not just the choreography, but the “why” behind each movement and the bridges between each of the tow apparatus, making the work more systematic as it was intended.

  • An embodied grasp of the Classical Pilates method principles.

  • A personal teaching voice — clear, calm, supportive, and rooted in real experience.

  • Technical precision and movement awareness, refined through consistent hands-on guidance.

  • The ability to work with different bodies and levels, adapting exercises while maintaining integrity.

  • Confidence through practice — supported teaching moments, practical assignments, and steady mentorship.

  • Rather than rushing through a long list of exercises, we focus on quality, understanding, and transferability — the skills that make a teacher truly effective.
